NSIDC Press Release: Arctic Sea Ice down to second-lowest extent; likely record-low volume despite cooler temperatures and ice-favoring conditions

The National Snow and Ice Data Center has issued a press release describing the results of the 2008 Arctic Sea melt season, stating that the 2008 ice volume was probably the lowest ever recorded.
